Two of my sculptures, "Wonder Is So Sweet To Hold" and  "Moon Woman",  were selected by Juror Amiri Farris for the Maria V. Howard Arts Center 62nd National Juried Show in Rocky Mount N.C. The exhibit opens May 3, 2019 and closes August 18, 2019. Artist reception and Awards Presentation is May 15th, 6:30. 

Durham Art Guild presents the 2019 Members' Showcase. My sculpture, "Dreaming Fully", is in this annual non-juried show. This years' exhibition features an array of work by over 100 local artists. On view in DAG's SunTrust Gallery April 5 - June 8, 2019.

My Story


  • I have been an artist for as long as I can remember. I still have my first piece of art, an apple, which I made in kindergarten. Other than years of technical illustration classes, I am primarily a self-taught artist for both 2D and 3D art.

Paper Pulp Sculptures


  • Paper pulp allows me to create lightweight wall or standing sculpture. Each has an armature on which layers of paper pulp are added. I may use 20 layers of paper pulp to get the result in texture or smoothness I am striving for.

Kanji Paintings


  • Having been a martial arts instructor for over 35 years, I learned kanji characters as part of my studies. I paint Kanji characters on wood panels or canvas. I am drawn to the lines, circles  and curves of Kanji symbols which convey meanings.
